About the CBC Story Today

Dear Blog Readers, This morning I read a story by CBC Journalist Jenna Head; you can find it here . The story is full of misinformation.  The writer doesn't even know where New-Wes-Valley is- that's how little work she put into that story.  'Near' Bonavista Bay?  🙄   I would like to point out that they did not contact this blogger's email, and so the statement about anyone not being willing to be interviewed is a big fat lie.  And yes, I checked the spam box.  Nothing. I'd love to hear your feedback about the story.  Anonymously or with your names, or a pseudonym, whatever you're comfortable with.

Missing In Action

Hello Readers, I'd like to touch base with you as there is a gap in posts lately.  I have been unable to go to the past few town council meetings, and no one else has sent in any posts for publication.  I have not heard from any concerned citizens for some time- I'm hoping that's because everyone is happily enjoying their summer holidays or busy making hay while the sun shines. I would like to remind you of the reasons this blog was first set up, and encourage you to send in information to share with all citizens of New-Wes-Valley.   This site is meant as a tool to reach out to all stakeholders in our town, including the many people who do not wish to use Facebook.  Here's how you can take part: comment on posts email your thoughts to newwesvalleycitizens.haveyoursay@blogger.com for publication share this webpage with other citizens of New-Wes-Valley attend municipal meetings- see the calendar for when the meetings are happening share information about your busi...

Setting the Record Straight: Concerned Citizens Letters regarding Conflict of Interest

Image
There has been some misinformation circulating about the letters Concerned Citizens of New-Wes-Valley sent to Council and Municipal Affairs following the suspension of Councillor Howell from a complaint by town staff. When complaints are sent to Council they are supposed to be confidential, so why are people outside of Council chatting about these letters? The CAO herself stated in an email to the NWV   concerned citizens that, “As noted in my previous email it is deemed necessary to know the complainants' names(s) who have filed this complaint. This is to ensure there is no breach of confidentiality. During the process of a complaint under the Municipal Conduct Act, the only parties who are given the complaint and response are myself, the complainant and the respondent”. Has there been a breach of privacy? We want to clarify the facts about the letters.  Please read them for yourselves here: Our letters were submitted to highlight broader concerns about potential conflicts of...
